Construction
Depending on labor and material availability, the project will take approximately two years to build. Barton Malow has been selected as the general contractor and has a long history working with auto manufacturers, including General Motors and Ford Motor Company, as well as the general contractor for the University of Notre Dame Campus Crossroads project. Subcontractors can connect with Barton Malow by submitting to pre-qualify on their website.
The construction crews are on-site and have begun grading, survey work, and setting up Trailer City – a portable temporary space for construction workers. We anticipate full construction to start in spring, depending on multiple factors, including the weather. An estimated 1600 – 2000 workers will be on-site daily at full build.
Will the site be accessed through residential areas?
Construction equipment will predominantly access the site via SR 2 to Larrison Road. The County is working with the Barton Malow and General Motors team to communicate to drivers to use heavy haul SR2 for deliveries.
